Observing Olivero Squash Massacre Day

In some parts of the country, its rats. In others, mice or bats. It seems when certain pests grow out of control and begin encroaching on our urban landscape, we deem it acceptable to erradicate them en masse with no mercy.

Where we live, October means the great pumpkin migration. Everywhere you look there are pumpkins. Pumkin head-hunters are found on virtually every busy street corner displaying their catch and their part of the elimination of the nuiscance. As you can imagine, no squash (especially the giant orange variety) is safe in Los Altos the week before Halloween.

Though we don't consider ourselves a violent people, I must admit we (and yes, the children too) find guilty pleasure in taking part in the orange-fleshed blood-bath and go so far as showcasing their remains inside our own home. The following images may be too graphic and intense for some younger audiences, so parental discretion is advised.

Good thing they are gone come November...Save for those you find in PIES!!!..... Gruesome!!!!

P.S. INLAW/OUTLAW APB - I EXPECT TO SEE POSTS OF COSTUMED ANTICS SOON!!
